Acceptable Use Policy

A short link hides where it leads, so people have to trust the domain it sits on. These rules keep tnb.li safe to click.

The short version

  • Do not link to anything that deceives, harms or exploits people, or that is illegal.
  • Do not send short links to people who never asked for them.
  • Do not show our checks one page and your visitors another.
  • Links that break the rules are switched off, and the workspace may be closed.
  • Seen a tinbo link that should not exist? Report it and we will look.

A summary to read first. The sections below are what counts.

1What a link may not lead to

This goes for every destination a link has, including the ones behind its rules.

  • Phishing and impersonation: pages that pose as somebody else to collect passwords, payment details or personal data.
  • Malware: viruses, spyware, drive-by downloads, or pages built to take over a device or an account.
  • Scams and fraud: fake shops, fake prizes and giveaways, investment and advance-fee fraud, fake support lines.
  • Sexual exploitation: any sexual content involving minors, and intimate images shared without consent.
  • Violence and hate: threats, incitement to violence, and material that promotes terrorism or hatred of people for who they are.
  • Illegal trade: goods or services that are illegal to sell where they are offered.
  • Infringement: content that you have no right to distribute, or that violates somebody's copyright, trademark or privacy.

2What you may not do with tinbo

  • Spam: putting short links in email, text messages, comments or direct messages sent in bulk to people who did not ask for them.
  • Cloaking: showing one page to our checks or to a platform's reviewers and another to visitors, or changing a destination after it was checked to get around these rules.
  • Misleading people about a link: a subdomain, custom domain or link name chosen to pass as another person or brand.
  • Dodging limits: opening several accounts or free workspaces to get around a plan's allowance, or signing up by script.
  • Attacking the service: probing it for weaknesses without our agreement, overloading it on purpose, or getting at data that is not yours.
  • Inflating numbers: generating clicks artificially to mislead an advertiser, a partner or anyone else relying on them.

3How links are checked

We scan destinations automatically, with particular attention to new workspaces. A scan follows the destination and its redirects, reads the page it ends on, and has it assessed by automated classifiers and an external scanning service. The providers involved are listed under Subprocessors.

Automated checks make mistakes in both directions. A flagged link is looked at by a person before a workspace is closed, and a clean scan does not mean a link is allowed.

4What happens when a link breaks the rules

Depending on how serious it is, we may:

  • switch off the link, so that it stops redirecting;
  • suspend the workspace while we look into it;
  • close the workspace or the account;
  • report it to the authorities, where the law requires or the harm warrants it.

For phishing, malware and anything that puts people in danger we act first and write afterwards. In other cases we tell you what is wrong and give you the chance to fix it.

If you think we got it wrong, reply to our message or write to support@tinbo.co. A person will look at it again. A workspace closed for breaking this policy is not refunded, as the Refund Policy says.

5Report a link

If a link on tnb.li, or on a domain that redirects through tinbo, leads somewhere it should not, tell us through the contact page or at support@tinbo.co. Include:

  • the short link, exactly as you received it;
  • what is wrong with it;
  • where you came across it, if you can say.

We read every report and act on the ones that break this policy. We do not tell the link's owner who reported it.
